Question: How to restore acer aspire one netbook?!?

Here`s my problem - one night I was browsing my laptop and this silly `secuirty tool " progr«m came up, I tryed to close it but must have clicked download. Now there is this rubish program on my computer that stops me from doing anything, and I can not remove the program. Is there any way I can restore my netbook to remove this stupid program? Or just restore it completly.

I had the same problem about a year ago, and I had to reformat my drive, and start all over with a new blank disk, add my operating system, and then reinstall all my programs before I could get it to work again. I tried restoring to a time before I downloaded the bug, yeah, it's a virus, and nothing short of reformatting helped. Sorry. I hate these jerkoffs that play that kind of game. they just have nothing better too do than screw up other people's computers. I'd like to come up with a program that would catch them before the program loads, and cause their computer to blow up in their faces. maybe they would think twice before doing it again, if they live through the explosion.

Your netbook doesn't have a DVD drive so you can't boot from it. However, you can use a bootable USB flash drive. Get this SuperAntiSpyware (SAS) and boot from it: superantispyware.com/ portablescanner.html Another method of removing it is by strictly following the automated removal instructions given in this link: bleepingcomputer.com/ virus-removal/ remove-security-tool Either way, you might have to use a different computer to download the files you will be needing. You might be discouraged by the long process given in the second method but it is the most recommended as it will also fix your problem with the corrupted HOSTS file which the first method would not do. See steps 21 to 22. If you want, you can try the first method (the SAS method) and then continue with steps 21 to 22 of the 2nd method. If you don't do steps 21 to 22 you will not be able to surf normally so doing these steps is MANDATORY.

Try pressing ALT-F10 at boot if you want to load the recovery partition. If it is there it will reformat and install the operating system to new condition. It also will delete any programs and data you have .

It's called ransom ware - it will hold you computer hostage until you pay. Don't pay, the extortionist will use your info. I've posted the yahoo link for possible solutions.
