Question: Trying to network my acer netbook to my pc. both have win 7 ultimate. homegroup doesn't help. please help!!?

Well I bought a netbook and installed win 7 ultimate on that and my pc has win 7 ultimate. I am trying to network the two like me and my gf laptop was to my cpu. For some reason it won't read the netbook on my network and I tried the homegroup thing on both and they both act as their own homegroups and won let me join either one to the other homegroups. Please help!! I like the fact that I can access all my pc programs and files from a netbook/ laptop. Please Help!

You dont use homegroups. just right click and set up sharing for each item you want each pc to access. example: pc1 wants to see pc2 movies or songs... right click and share those files. your router has you both on the same network already. file sharing is all you need to set up PC1 - example, dont take literall. right click the C:\ drive and select file sharing. Allow. set permissions if you choose. Repeat with PC2 and refresh both pc's -reboot is best and you should now see both or anything you are sharing under the NETWORK option. select computer and the network option is listed there
