Question: What is the best netbook? (word processing, internet, older games)?
(Posted by: Joe on 2010-01-23 19:56:18)
I am looking for a netbook to play some older games like age of mythology and for internet stuff like youtube and email. Also for typing up assignments for school. Price range around 250 to 350. |

Important things for you to consider are how important battery life is to you, how big of a screen do you want, and what type of operating system you plan to use. If you really want long battery life, I would recommend getting a smaller sized laptop or a netbook. I'm not sure how big of a screen you are looking for, but the Acer Aspire One has great battery life and also a 10.1 " display. It has enough power to do all of the things that you had listed, as well as the "light " things you would typically need for school work. It has the necessities of built in Wi-Fi, built in webcam, Windows XP instead of Vista and so on. It also has a pretty affordable price that is in the range you listed. More details on this Acer Aspire One, as well as advice and info about other laptops and netbooks that should fit within your budget, is at the link below. |

All netbooks are the same. Atom processors, 1GB of ram, and cost around $300. Look for one with an nVidia Ion and 2GB of ram if possible. The Ion is the most important thing. |

They all work fine for word processing, web browsing, and "older " games. Anyone spouting a preference is merely praising the one they personally use. Truth is, they are all fine. Don't worry about getting the "best ". ESPECIALLY if you have a price range. You get what you get. You can't simply say a Sony Vaio, or an HP, because they all have several models of netbooks that are all different. No computer is the all-around "best. " Some are more suitable than others for specific purposes, but in general they are all the same. |

The important things with netbooks are SS RAM (don't get solid state RAM - it has a limited number of writes) and the manufacturer. You want one that builds a good product (not like HP) and that has at least decent customer support (again, not like HP). I like the current Acer line, and Acer's customer support is in the "sucks less " area, which is about the best you can get these days.. |

The Asus 1005PE is currently the best one in the market. It has 14 hours of battery life a 250GB hard drive and much more! It looks delicious too :) alturl.com/ bpmu |
