Question: Where can i get a good deal on a linux netbook?

I've decided to get a netbook for various reasons. I really am unbiased when it comes to OS's, but I favor linux when it comes to laptops because it tends to be lean and run a bit faster. I really only need one to browse the internet, play music, and run Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. (Through WINE of course seeing as it is Linux) Here are the System Requirements ti WC3: * 600 MHz processor or better * 256 MB of RAM * 32 MB 3D Video card I'd like at least 40 GB space and 1024 MB of RAM. I've seen what TigerDirect has to offer and its okay, but they don't offer much in the way of Linux. I really am not looking to pay more than 300$ (Not including warranty and/ or Extended Service Plans) I can pay more, but when it gets to about 600$ I might as well just get a new desktop. That one does look good, but the reason is the netbooks that come with Linux loaded tend to have a specialized distro installed. I'm not sure why, but I just felt like trying one. I'm actually tempted to try the Zonbu Laptop which is $400, but their website has been out of stock for so long I wonder if they actually exist. I forgot to mention that I am willing to go for 512 mb as long as its upgradeable. I'm looking at the Inspiron Mini 9 right now. Its $249 and has linux loaded. Downsides are it has 8 gigs of space and 512 mb and I dont think its upgradeable As it turns out, one of my dad's employees bought a netbook he didn't like much. He actually bought a replacement as soon as possible, so my father is going to see if he is willing to sell the old one. |
