Question: How do i perform a system recovery on a refurbished netbook with an uninstalled operating system?

I just bought a refurbished HP netbook (1030NR). The operating system(XP Home Edition SP3) was uninstalled to begin with. I just went out & bought a external multiformat DVD Writer & I'm trying to figure out how to get it to cooperate with the new Netbook & carry out the system recovery. I plugged the drive up to the netbook & inserted the system recovery disk that came with the refurbed netbook & turned the net book on, but i keep getting the same message, "reboot & select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device & press a key. " i have a disk for system recovery & for the operating system, I just can't figure out how to get it all working together. F9 & F10 BIOS settings are available when i start the netbook, but i don't know what to do in there. Help?!?! I put the operating system disk into the boot drive & now i need to know which partition to select to install xp on. 3 choices.... partitioned space on on "C: Partition1 (Fat32) "/ "Unpartitioned space 4MB/ Unpartitioned space 15626 " I want a completely fresh start, using up as little space as possible, if that affects my selection here... |
