The way it all works out, it's not worth the effort. BlackBerry internet is reliant upon Verizon's network and the connection is slow. It's entirely dependent upon your cell phone's signal. Don't forget that internet sharing from your BlackBerry is unreliable to say the least and it sucks up battery life like you can't imagine. Also, if you don't buy Verizon's service, you don't get the cheap netbook. It's designed so you have to pay for the service, since the netbook is free after rebates. Just like so many major corporations, the product isn't going to make the big bucks, it's the service. If you're not going to by the service, you can't get the product for free. You'll pay full retail, if they even sell it that way. I know the BlackBerry is not sold without the data plan and this arrangement is no different. |
